ALEXANDRIA, IN – Robert John "Jack" Fisher, 94, of Alexandria, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on September 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was born on June 12, 1931, in Alexandria, Indiana, to Siebert and Blanche Fisher., Jack graduated from Dover High School in Dover, New Jersey and returned with his family to Alexandria after graduation where he lived for the remainder of his life.
On May 28, 1955, Jack married the love of his life, Charlene (Mehling) Fisher. This year marked their 70th wedding anniversary-a true testament to their enduring love and commitment to one another.
Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honored later in life to participate in the Honor Flight Program alongside his son, Dennis-an experience he cherished deeply.
He began his lifelong career in the automotive industry at Guide Lamp in Anderson, Indiana, and later spent the majority of his working years at Delco Remy in Anderson, where he worked in the Engineering Labs for over 31 years. Jack was known for his strong work ethic, quiet intelligence, and dedication to his craft. He was also well known for his practical jokes.
A man of deep faith, Jack was a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria, where he found community, strength, and peace. He was also a member of the American Legion Post DAV. Jack will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help others, but most of all for his precious smile. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family. His legacy will live on in the lives of those he touched.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Charlene Fisher; his children Dennis (LeeAnne) Fisher of Alexandria and Sandy (John) Burnette of Elwood; and his grandchildren Bayley Rideout of Carmel, Robert John "Jack" Fisher of Lafayette and Josi Fisher of Alexandria, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Siebert and Blanche Fisher; his sister, Rose Marie Fullhart (Ted) of Muncie; and his brother, Tony Fisher (Susie) of Brownsburg.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 am on Friday, September 12, 2025, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 820 West Madison Street, Alexandria with Father Tom Metzger officiating. Inurnment with military honors will follow at the Garden of Serenity Columbarium in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.
