Memorial Services for Robert Fisher, age 75, of O'Neill will be at 3:00 pm on Monday, November 24, 2025 at the O'Neill Community Center. Trevor Combs will officiate. Burial will be in the O'Neill Cemetery. Robert lost his difficult battle to cancer on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, surrounded by his family at his home in O'Neill. Memorials may be directed to his family for future designation. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Robert Paul Fisher was born March 9, 1950 in San Mateo, California to Charles and Eleanora (Bredehoeft) Fisher. He lived in Redwood City, California where he attended school up until the fourth grade. In 1959, Robert and his family moved to Bassett, Nebraska where his father got a job to do the plumbing of the new hospital. Robert was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1962, the same day as his older brother John. Robert attended high school in Orchard, Nebraska then attended Grand Island High School and graduated in the top 1/3 of about 400 students in the Class of 1968.

After graduating high school, Robert started working at a lumber yard before working with his father as an apprentice in plumbing. In 1970 at the age of 20, Robert and his parents moved to Brooklyn, New York to volunteer on a construction project at the world headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses. He then went to Wallkill in upstate New York to volunteer at another facility of Jehovah's Witnesses, then known as Watchtower Farms. The two years he spent helping at these projects in New York are among his fondest memories, and he loved to tell others stories about all the good experiences he had there.

In 1972 the Fisher family left New York and returned to Broken Bow, Nebraska to work for Anderson Brothers plumbing. In 1975 they relocated to O'Neill, Nebraska and started their own business, Fisher's Plumbing. While attending a meeting at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in O'Neill, Robert met Lucy White, and they later got married on May 15, 1976 in Gregory, South Dakota. To this union two children were born: Abby and Ethan.

Robert had a fine reputation as being kind, generous, helpful, and a very hard worker. He loved people and would make friends with everyone he met. As a good problem solver, one of his favorite things to do was to help others in practical ways. This included, among many other things, providing housing and vehicles to those in need, volunteering his time and expertise in the construction of over 100 Kingdom Halls across the Midwest, and regularly helping others to learn about the Bible and apply its principles

Some of Robert's favorite activities were talking with others, telling jokes and stories, photography, scoring a good deal, hunting and fishing, and Jeeping in the Rocky Mountains in his treasured 1949 Willy's.

Robert is survived by his wife Lucy Fisher of O'Neill; his two children, Abby (Nathan) Laughlin of O'Neill, Ethan (Jennie) Fisher of Prescott Valley, AZ; one grandchild, James Laughlin; his sister, Virginia Dawson of O'Neill; several brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Fisher in 1968; and niece, Leah Dawson.
