Robert Gonzales Flores, 74, of Amarillo, TX passed away January 27, 2026. He was born on May 2, 1951.
Memorial service will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, February 2, 2026 at Amarillo Fellowship Church, 8425 Bell St. Inurnment will be in Llano Cemetery East. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Robert was raised in Amarillo, Texas, alongside his sister Mary. They were members of First Baptist Church of downtown Amarillo, and he proudly graduated from Amarillo High School. Amarillo was always home to him and remained close to his heart throughout his life.
After high school, Robert served in the United States Navy for four years and was honorably discharged in 1979. Following his service, he dedicated himself to helping his mother with the family restaurant, a commitment that lasted more than 30 years. During that time, he worked tirelessly while raising his three children, showing unwavering devotion to both his family and his work.
Family was everything to Robert. In addition to raising his own children, he lovingly helped care for his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, treating them all as his own. Though known for his stubborn streak, he was equally known for his playful nature. He loved being silly, making others laugh, and bringing joy wherever he went—a true child at heart.
Music was one of Robert’s greatest passions. His love for it never faded and remained a source of happiness, comfort, and peace throughout his life, even toward the very end.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jan Flores, and his mother, Celia Flores.
He is survived by his sister, Mary; his children, Laura, Michael, and Brittney, andher husband Antonio; his nieces and nephews, Phillip, Yuvia, Joanne, Carina, Bentley, Cloei, her husband Joe, Ashton, and Mckenzie; and his grandchildren, Hayden, Davin, Gauge, Logan, and Adam.
Robert Gonzales Flores will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his devotion to family, his laughter, his music, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.
