Delbert Conley New, 69, passed away on January 29, 2026.
Delbert’s life will be celebrated on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at South Georgia Baptist Church, 5209 S. Georgia, Amarillo, TX. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Amarillo, TX.
Delbert was born in Amarillo, Texas on September 9, 1956, to Don and Betty Jo New.
He was a 1975 graduate of Amarillo High School and earned his BBA degree from West Texas A & M University in 2000.
He married his high school sweetheart, Sherilyn, on November 12, 1992, and together they raised an amazing family.
His professional career included information technology, operations management, and project management. He worked hard and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He was a gifted supervisor and loved to use his skills at work and with family. However, he despised being told what to do himself – unless those instructions were coming from a grandchild. They had him wrapped around their finger. He was absolutely the best papa around and the grandkids loved it when he would toss them in the air and catch them with his big, strong hands.
He loved to play golf, watch the Dallas Cowboys, and take random road trips with his wife to enjoy the countryside or to see his brothers.
Family outings, hunting trips with his boys, fishing, camping, and swimming at the lake were at the top of his list of favorites.
Eating, laughing, telling stories, laughing more, and adding a few more stories filled his days and brought him great joy. Regardless of his health situation at the time, he never let it get him down and always kept a positive attitude.
Delbert was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jo; a brother, Steve New; and a son, Chad Bledsoe.
He is survived by his wife, Sherilyn New; four sons, Justin New, Michael New (Tyler), Bradley Bledsoe (Jayme), and Josh New (Dawn); ten grandchildren, Devon, Sophia, Jackson, Evie, Wyatt, Beckett, Willow, Link, Bennett and Gannon; his father, Don New; two brothers, Nathan New (Brenda) and Brandon New (Stephanie); sister-in-law, Kim New; sister-in-law, Julie Murphy and his beloved, Eva. As well as countless uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
