Steven Scott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ellis Funeral Home - Morton on Feb. 11, 2026.
Steve Scott, age 70, our beloved brother and uncle passed from this life on February 8th, 2026. He was born in Morton on February 16th, 1955 to loving parents Bob & Audrey Scott.

Steve was always a hard worker and put 100% in everything he ever did. When he was in high school he operated the projectors at the Rose Theater and he always had great stories about it. He graduated from Morton High School in 1973. Steve moved to Lubbock the next day and started a long career as a service writer for Modern Chevrolet, and then to Amarillo for many years, working for Ray Jones Chevrolet. He decided late in life that he needed a change and decided to go to college. Steve was in the last graduating class of West Texas State University in 1990. He worked for National Credit Union Association as a national credit union examiner. He traveled from coast to coast auditing credit unions. In 1997, Steve moved to Seminole and managed the Seminole Schools Federal Credit Union until his retirement in 2020. He also was a member and past president of the Seminole Rotary Club.

Steve always loved cars, photography and aviation, but what he really loved was fishing. You could always count on him to have a camera, even after getting an iPhone. He loved going to airshows, and attended many with his brother, Doug. Steve enjoyed keeping his yard beautiful and growing flowers on his patio. In his younger years there were many trips to Taos, NM, with friends and family snow skiing. Steve always loved and supported his family, whether it was a family gathering, holidays, birthdays, graduations, livestock shows or drag races, he was there smiling and laughing and making sure that everyone knew he loved them. He was preceded in death by parents Bob and Audrey Scott, grandparents: Everett and Carrie Scott and Fred and Pearl Kelly, and many great friends.

Steve is survived by a brother Doug Scott, a sister Susan Lamb, nephews and a niece, Greg and Shawn Scott, Brad and Meggan Scott and Danielle Dobson, uncle Alvin and Donna Kelly and many cousins.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD, 21741 or First Baptist Church of Morton, 202 SE 1st Street, Morton, Texas, 79346
