Robert “Bob” Eugene Fox Sr., 92, of Clemmons, NC, passed away on February 15, 2026, at Clemmons Village II Assisted Living. He was born on July 28, 1933, in Forsyth County, NC to the late William Lee Fox & Helen Irene Clayton Fox Fulford.
He retired after 30 years of service in the US Navy and actively served from 1950 – 1973 with the ranking of Master Chief Petty Officer. He served three tours in the Korean War, served on numerous ships, and received many accommodations including the Ambassador for Peace Korean War Veteran Medal and Korean War Service Medal.
On May 23, 1953, he married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Hicks and they were married for almost 71 years before her passing in 2024.
Bob was a member of Salem Lodge #289 in Winston Salem, NC.
He was part owner of B & B Books since 1975 and over the years him and Barbara sold numerous books at antique malls in Myrtle Beach SC and Greensboro NC. Bob never met a stranger; he loved carrying on conversations with people. His other hobbies earlier in the years were camping and bowling. He recently went on the Triad Honor Flight for Veterans to Washington DC, and it meant the world to him.
He was a member of First Christian Church in Winston Salem where he attended when his health allowed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and their only child, Robert “Skipper” Eugene Fox Jr.
Bob is survived by his older brother, Donald Lee Fox Sr. of Tallahassee, FL; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Fox; Nieces, Katrina Fox Hewitt, who stepped in to be his guardian since the death of his wife and son; Susan Fox Gracey, Debbie Fox Buxton, and Donna Fox.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Forsyth Memorial Park, 3771 Yadkinville Road, Winston Salem with Rev. Tony Matthews officiating. Full Military Honors will be provided by the United States Navy and Clemmons VFW Post 9010. The family will visit with friends immediately after the service.
The family would like to thank the staff at Clemmons Village II Assisted Living for their loving care of Bob over the past several years and Trellis Supportive Care. Memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
