Robert J. Freeman

Robert J. Freeman, 81, of Clyde, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026 at the ProMedica Hospital in Toledo. A Clyde native, Robert, or Bob as his friends fondly called him, was a man known for his resilience and his love of laughter. As a thoughtful and considerate individual, he took his time to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Bob was born on May 17, 1944 to Jon and Evelyn (Walker) Freeman and was a 1962 graduate of Clyde High School. Bob married Regina Gilbert on July 23, 1966 and she preceded him in death on September 17, 2020.

Robert was a proud employee at Whirlpool, where he worked as a committed inspector. He was a regular face at the Clyde VFW and Eagles, where he was a dedicated member. When not working, Bob could be found tending to his tomato plants and vegetable garden or in his younger years casting a line into a peaceful fishing hole. He was a passionate Ohio State Football fan and took great enjoyment in discussing his beloved Mercedes cars. He enjoyed cooking, and his generosity extended to his neighbors and to all who knew him.

Robert is survived by his daughters, Jeni (Dave Rogers) Golden of Fremont, Ohio and Erica (Todd) Didion of Belton, South Carolina; his grandchildren, Brittany Franks, Taylor (Justin) Buck, and Gunner (McKenzi Woessner) Golden, Sydney (Gavin) Sparling, Nicholas Fleury and Geena (Austin) Barman and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Jon Freeman; his mother, Evelyn (Walker) Freeman; his loving wife, Regina Freeman; and his son-in-law, Keith Golden.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 9:30am until the time of service at 11:30am at the Auxter-Recker Funeral Home, 218 South Main Street, Clyde, Ohio. Pastor Wally Gilbert will be officiating. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in Clyde. Memorial contributions in honor of Robert J. Freeman may be made to the Clyde VFW or the Clyde Eagles.
