With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Robert Anthony Freeze, 88, a lifelong resident of Lodi, NJ, who departed this world on May 9, 2025. Robert was the embodiment of devotion-to his family, his community, and his country.
Known for his infectious laugh and pure soul, Robert brought joy to all who knew him. His passion for fishing and gardening reflected his appreciation for life's simple pleasures and his connection to the natural world. Through thick and thin, he remained a lifelong Giants and Mets fan, showcasing his steadfast loyalty and optimism. Robert served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was a proud supporter and member of the American Legion Post 136, Robert demonstrated unwavering respect for those who served our nation, embodying the values of patriotism and gratitude. Robert was also a member of Lodi Moose Lodge 1971.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Mary Freeze (nee Mudsco); and his siblings, Dorothy, Alice, and Edward.
Robert leaves behind a beautiful legacy in his family having lived to become a great-grandfather multiple times over. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Freeze (nee Palamenti); daughters Deborah Gilroy (ex-husband Eugene Gilroy) and Jill Gilroy (husband Louis Gilroy); son Keith Freeze (wife Sue Freeze); grandchildren Justin Gilroy (wife Josie Gilroy), Jessica Timmerman (husband Mike Timmerman), Courtney Gilroy, Adrianna Freeze, and Christian Freeze; and great-grandchildren Luke and Scarlett Timmerman, Giana Gilroy, and soon-to-arrive Alexander Santacroce.
As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Robert's love knew no bounds. His warmth, love for family, and character have left an indelible mark on his family and community that will continue to inspire generations to come.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Tuesday May 13, 2025, 8:30 at Di Chiara Funeral Home, 300 Main St., Lodi then to St. Joseph R.C. Church for a 9:30 am Funeral Mass. Private cremation to follow. Visitation Monday May 12, 2025, 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 pm.
