Robert LaVern Funk Obituary
Robert LaVern Funk of Granbury, Texas passed peacefully on February 16, 2025.
He was born December 22, 1934 in Poplar, Montana and spent his early years in Great Falls and other Montana towns before moving to Dallas, where he attended college and met his wife, Jane.
Bob proudly served in the US Army in post-war Germany before returning to complete his bachelors degree at UTA and begin raising his family.
His biology degree led him to a successful career in laboratory equipment sales and management, and later DNA testing sales and marketing where he applied an impressive leadership skillset he developed in the military. His career path provided many lifelong friendships which he valued immeasurably.
Bob's penchant for hard work was exceeded only by his passion for flying, delightfully demonstrated by his older brother Gene in his early years in Montana. Bob later combined flying with his work and family life at every opportunity, safely piloting his beloved Bonanza to business and recreational destinations throughout the US for over four decades. Aviation also led to a treasured camaraderie with his fellow pilots.
Bob is survived by his son Rob Funk, his wife Kelli and their sons Ben and Owen. He is also survived by his daughter Bobette Hilliard, her husband Joe, son Robert Hilliard and his wife Heather, her daughter Tahnie Holliday and her husband Mason and a future great grandchild on the way.
Bob was preceded in death by his former wife Mary Jane Funk, parents Samuel and Minnie Funk, brothers Eugene and Ted Funk, sisters Bette Bowman, Leah Funk and twins Madeleine and Adeline who both passed at birth.
A memorial service will be held at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury TX on Friday February 28th at 11:00 AM. Internment will be in Havre MT at a future date.
