Robert Edward Ganzel passed away peacefully with family by his side on July 5, 2024 at his home in Lakewood, WI. He was 91 years old. Bob was born at the family home in the town of Gresham, WI to the late Edward and Josephine (Richards) Ganzel on October 30, 1932.
After graduating from Seymour High School in 1950, he entered the Army and served in Germany during the Korean War. When he returned home, he found and married the love of his life, Carol (Blohm) Ganzel on May 26, 1956. They shared 68 years of marriage, playing cribbage daily, and providing their family with much love and so many happy memories.
Bob was a hardworking, proud, honest and fair man who lived life the way he wanted to until the very end. He worked for 37 years at Miron Construction as a carpenter and superintendent until his retirement in 1994. Bob and Carol moved from their home in Appleton to their family cottage in Lakewood upon retirement. Here they enjoyed many happy hours with numerous friends made over the years at the local watering holes, where one provided them with their own personalized bar stools. He was always up for a good joke, was an avid fisherman who was affectionately known as "Musky Bob" and enjoyed his flower and vegetable gardens. A jack of all trades.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, his children Sharie (Tim) Geske, Julie (Jim) Werth, Jackie (Jeff) Montour, Jeff (Amy) Ganzel, and Shelley (Andy) Zeegers; 15 Grandchildren, and 13 Great-grandchildren; his siblings Phyllis Toonen, Doris Knox, Mavis (Tom) Brownson, Richard (Mary) Ganzel and his in-laws Melvin (Ruth) Blohm, Marge (Appleton) Blohm, Lois Buelow, Joanne Blohm, David (Jane) Blohm, Sharon Ganzel and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Melvin and Kenneth, sister Geraldine as well as in-laws Herbert and Delores (Hurst) Blohm, brother in-laws Glenn Wichman, Glenn Knox, Bob Weber, Donald and LeRoy Blohm, Robert Toonen and sister in-laws Beverly Weber, Naomi (Petcoff) Blohm, and Janice Wichman.
A private family gathering as well as a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider charitable donations in Bob's name to the American Legion Post 44 in Wabeno, WI.
Weber-Hill & Packard Funeral Home of Wabeno is assisting the family with arrangements.
