Mr. Robert Albert "Rob" Garrett Jr.

On January 23, 2026, Robert A. Garrett Jr., affectionately known as Buddy, was called home to be with the Lord. Born the eldest child of the late Robert and Elizabeth Garrett, he grew up in a loving family in Buckingham County, Virginia.

He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Dillwyn, Virginia. Immediately after graduating from Carter G. Woodson High School, Robert moved to New York, where he lived for 16 years. Upon returning to Virginia and settling in Richmond, he became a dedicated and devoted member of the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God in Christ in Petersburg, Virginia faithfully serving as a Walking Trustee.

On July 31, 2021, Robert married Glenda Gibson. Robert was a man of many passions. He loved cooking, watching sports, and listening to music of all kinds. Rob was an avid biker. He was also a history buff - reading the newspaper from front to back, never missing a detail.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters, Barbara Ann Garrett and Valerie Renee Garrett.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Glenda Garrett; children, Ronisey, Eric (Alice), and Andrew; three brothers, James (Vanessa), Gralline (Diane), and Joseph (Jeannette); four sisters, Angie (Wayne), Dorothy, Deborah, and Lucille (Joseph); four grandchildren, Nicole, Cameron, Jae'lyn, and Tony; four great grandchildren, Cayden, Ava, Jiovanni, and Kae'Nari.; three stepsons, Julious, Jameal, and Johnathan; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends; and his devoted friend, Ralph "Tree" Wyatt.

Rob's presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Robert A. Garrett, Jr., will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God in Christ, 233 Halifax Street, Petersburg, Virginia, Bishop Jeffrey L. Dodson, Sr., M Div. Eulogist, Officiating.

The family is asking relatives and friends to assemble at the Church at 10:45 a.m. on the day of service.
