Robert (Bob) Eldon Gill was born January 13, 1928 and passed away peacefully at his home on April 9, 2025. He was born to Carl and Lula (Coates) Gill and was the oldest of five children. He graduated from Sewal High School. He then joined the Army and served for two years as a Sergeant. During that time, he met and married Bernice Ziegler and to this union they welcomed three children, Robert, Randy & Cindy.
Bob lived his whole life in Sewal, Iowa. Farming and John Deere tractors were his passion. His other passion was the Legion. He was commander of the Allerton Legion for several years and until his passing.
After selling the farm, Bob worked out at Ziggy's Brake Shoe business then went to work for Tom Swearingin for several years.
Bob loved dancing, that's where he met and later married Barb Chipp on September 4, 2007. To this union Bob gained three step-children, two step grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren.
On of the family's fondest memories of summer visits were grandpa's famous zucchini brownies. He always had some ready for family visits.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Bernice and son Randy, one brother, three sisters, two brother in-laws and a half brother-in-law.
Bob is survived by wife Barb; children, Robert (Ziggy) and Cindy, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren. Three step-children, two step grandchildren and six great grandchildren, a half brother-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Bob will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 10 AM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon with internment to follow with Military rites at the Shriver Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, April 14, 2025 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon from 5 PM to 7 PM. Memorials may be made to the family or to the Allerton American Legion and mailed to Thomas Funeral Home 303 E. Jefferson Corydon, Iowa 50060 Attn: Gill Family.
