Robert Gillum joined his beloved wife Mary in Heaven on the 7th of June 2023. At his home in Portland, Oregon. He was surrounded by his loving family til the end.
Robert entered this life on the 23rd of August 1933, in Ironton, Ohio. Born to Elijah and Edith (Church) Gillum. In his younger years he helped on the family farm. Later in life he was an auto mechanic and was co-owner of P&A Auto Recycling. Upon retiring he and his wife Mary L. Duvall did some travelling, but mostly stayed home with family and friends. He loved country music, gardening in his back yard and being with his family. Everyone who met him loved him. They always commented on his white crew cut hair.
Bob, as he was called by friends, was lovingly referred to as "The Gentleman Junkie". He was married three times. Bob and his second wife (deceased) Delores Branson had 2 daughters, Edith (Kirk) Smith and Dena Gannon. When he married Mary he gained a Stepdaughter, Sharon (Gene) Applegate, whom he loved like his own.
During their 50 years together, they lovingly welcomed 7 grandchildren; Jeffrey and Tamara Applegate, Laurie Fourmont, Bobby and Jenny Mitchell; Tammie Arnett, and Tonya (Spencer) Jenssen; 16 Great Grandchildren; Vicki (Rick) Bunker; Aly (Nick) Hernandez; Kash Lewis; Jeremy Kaiser; Brittany (Steve) Johnson; Briana Dunlap; Sydney Fourmont; Jordan Stout; Annabelle, Ryah, and Mason Mitchell; Katie and Kody Pettit; Ruby and Raymond Gentis; and Kael Schiller. Last but not least 6 Great Great Grandchildren; Walker Bunker; Kennedy Johnson; Layla and Nicholas Lopez; and Julian and Amelia Orozco.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Mary; a son-In -Law Don Gannon; Grandson Jeremy Kaiser and his sister Geraldine Gillum.
Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Mitchell, Kael Schiller, Kash Lewis, Kody Pettit, Gene Applegate, Kirk Smith and Eric Gentis.
Condolences and flowers may be sent to Mt. Scott Funeral Home.
Private interment at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.
Family wishes you to join them for refreshments following services, held at Mt. Scott Funeral Home. All are invited to attend and share memories.
