Born in Newark, NJ, to parents Joseph and Elizabeth (Pek) Gluck, Robert lived in Union and Edison before settling in Mendham in 1976. He was a man of faith and a parishioner of St. Jospeh's Church in Mendham and St. Luke's Parish in Long Valley.
Robert attended and graduated from Rutgers University with his bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a part of the Rutgers ROTC group and served in the U.S. Army Reserve and NJ National Guard. A member of Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 25, he worked for many years for Folander Sheet Metal and Hutcheon & Simon, Inc. Robert was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Mendham Pastime Club. He married the love of his life, Gloria Gluck, on November 15, 1969, and they spent 49 magical years together, raising their family and enjoying each other's company. They loved to take little road trips to see family and friends, spend time with their grandchildren, and help make the St. Patrick's Day dinner for the Knight of Columbus.
Robert will be remembered by family and friends for his intellect, stories, sense of humor, and musical talent when it came to the piano and drums. Robert could always be relied on to share a good "long story short" tale and interesting facts about new topics. His generosity of spirit, kindness, and wit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Robert is predeceased by his beloved wife, Gloria Gluck, and his brother, Ernest Gluck. He is survived by his four daughters, Kristin (Robert) Hoffman, Carey Anne (Kenneth) Bomensatt, Caitlin (Joseph Kelly) Gluck, and Courtney (Brooks) Buxton, as well as 9 grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan, Christopher, Kenneth, Grace, Broderick, Callan, Charlotte, and Tierney.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, from 4-8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 22, at 11 AM at St. Luke's Parish, 265 W Mill Rd, Long Valley.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert's memory may be made to St. Luke's Parish or Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice.
