Robert James Goodreau, 97, of Iron Mountain, went to be with the Lord Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain. Bob was born on July 20, 1928, in Iron River, Michigan, son of the late Frank and Pauline (Rochon) Goodreau. After graduating from Iron River High School in 1947, Bob established and operated Goodreau Distributing Co., then enlisted with the U.S. Army in 1950. One day, on leave, Bob met the love of his life, Eleanor Mahoski. Having served 2 years, on Nov. 12, 1952, just one week after Bob's honorable discharge from the Army, they were married. Bob and Eleanor shared 62 years together before she preceded him in death on July 11, 2015. Bob worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for most of his career. He was proud of his community service as Mayor of Gaastra, member of the Iron County Board of Commissioners, and his leadership as Commander of the former American Legion Post 17 of Iron River, where he co-founded the Legionettes Drum and Bugle Corps. Most will know him best for his strong faith and active participation within the local churches and community. He is survived by his three children, daughter, Robelle (Robert) Degenaer of Norway; son, Ken (Susan) Goodreau of Iron Mountain; daughter, Kelly Goodreau of Mauston, WI.; in addition to 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. A private family gathering will be held in the future to honor Robert's memory. He will be deeply missed and remembered always and forever. The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.
