Robert Gosselin Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Modetz Funeral Home - Silverbell Chapel on May 23, 2023.
Robert (Bob) Morrison Gosselin was born in Detroit on April 19th, 1951 to Patrick & Eleanor Gosselin. He was born and raised in Berkley, MI where he graduated from Berkley High School in 1970. He studied at Lawrence Tech University and went on to have a successful career as a CAD designer for GM.
In addition to his day job, he maintained a true passion for politics, specifically dedicating his work to support Christian-based beliefs and ideals. It was with that motivation Bob rose to impressive political titles, such as, a member of the Troy School Board, Troy City Council, Oakland County Commissioner, and Michigan State Representative. Alongside his political career, Bob enjoyed the fruits of his hobbies: building, designing, renovating, and investing in properties. As a licensed builder and real estate agent, Bob was highly successful in these ventures, resulting in years of experience which would greatly benefit his pursuit of service later in his life. In all of these endeavors, he was a dedicated provider for his family.
After retirement, Bob became a dedicated advocate in the fight against human trafficking. He was an active board member for Hope Against Trafficking, an organization in Pontiac, MI that advocates for women coming out of trafficking situations. Not only was he integral in the logistical operations of the organization, he faithfully used his knowledge of real estate to purchase property, help renovate homes, and provide safe housing for survivors.
His greatest honor, though, lies in his legacy of family and faith. He was a believer in Jesus Christ first and foremost, and he followed God in everything he did. He was blessed and so proud to have three children who survive him: Jennifer (Andrew) Porter, Andrew (Michelle) Gosselin, and Stephanie Gosselin.
In addition to his wholehearted commitment to provide for his family's earthly needs, Bob was also loyal to the command of Ephesians 6:4, to "bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord." It was important for his family to have a Christian education, for him to model faithful involvement in church, and provide foundational tools to grow their own faith and love for Jesus. Although he was a part of many church families throughout his years, his later years were spent attending several Woodside Bible Church campuses.
And that is the greatest part of his legacy--three children who love the Lord with all their hearts and minds, who devotedly serve Him and are dedicated to raising their respective families to do the same.
He is survived in death by his six grandchildren, whom he adored dearly: Jenny, Aiden, Aaliyah, Wesley, Emery, and Josie. He enjoyed being with them every moment he could, including the last evening he was present on earth. He enjoyed just being in their presence.
He is also survived by his siblings: Gloria Johnson, Glenn (Vickie) Gosselin, Rick (Bernadette) Gosselin, Gary Gosselin, and Melody (Randy) Hulten. He has many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends he leaves behind whom he loved.
He was blessed by the dedication of the mother of his children, Jan Gosselin, who also survives him in death.
While Bob enjoys his reward in Heaven, free of the burdens of this world and whole in the arms of His Savior, we will miss him here. But you will continue to see him in the natural leadership and work ethic of his son and in the hearts for service and conviction of his daughters. You will see him in the love and hunger his grandchildren have for Jesus. You will see him as each member of his family continues to live their faith out loud, regardless of how resistant this world becomes to the Gospel.
Bob was welcomed into Heaven by his parents who preceded him, Patrick and Eleanor, on May 21, 2023.
