Robert Thomas Gotch, Jr. of Sterling Heights, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on May 28, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on January 16, 1962, in Burbank, California, Rob’s family moved to Michigan during his childhood, where Sterling Heights became his lifelong home. He attended Robert Lutz School in Clinton Township, actively participating in various vocational and life skills programs. Rob took great pride in contributing to his school community, particularly enjoying his work in the laundry room.

In 2003, Rob achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, undertaking a significant service project that focused on aiding the homeless in Pontiac. He cherished the adventures he shared with his father, brothers, and fellow troop members, which included camping trips, visits to Pigeon Forge, attendance at the National Jamboree in Virginia, and touring across North America with his scouting friends.

A passionate sports enthusiast, Rob spent many joyful hours participating in bowling and softball, attending dances, and being a devoted member of local sports teams. An ardent supporter of the Detroit Lions and Tigers, his spirited cheers and enthusiasm could often be heard during games. Even through his final days, Rob continued to enjoy watching professional wrestling, Elvis Presley performances, and action movies. His loved ones knew him well for his favorite indulgence—a large McDonald’s Diet Coke with no ice.

Rob was a vibrant personality, known for his playful spirit and trademark humor. His larger-than-life character shone in his signature catchphrases, as he playfully declared “I’ll be back” upon arrival or departure, and humorously signed off conversations with a firm “dismissed.” Neighbors often enjoyed his lively singing in the shower, an endearing part of his daily routine that will be missed dearly.

Rob is survived by his loving mother, Phyllis Gotch; siblings Bill (Judy) Haralson of St. Paul, MN; Sherrie Haralson, Dale Sincock, and Charles Gotch, all of Sterling Heights, MI; along with many cousins, extended family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert T. Gotch Sr.

Robert Thomas Gotch, Jr. will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His exceptional humor and indomitable spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.

A celebration of Rob's life is scheduled for Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Dodge Park, 40620 Utica Rd., Sterling Heights, MI, at 1 PM (in the pavilion nearest to the amphitheater).
