Cremation SourceMarie Patricia Nowaczewski, of Clinton Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on July 9, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, Marie was the daughter of Mary and Peter Burns.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anthony. Marie was the dear mother of Robert, Eileen Seeley, and Antoinette (Walter) Christel, and was also preceded in death by her son, David.
Marie took great pride in her role as a grandmother, and she leaves behind a loving legacy through her grandchildren: Amy Doyle, Walter (Beth) Christel, Heather (Scott) Opalewski, Vincent (Chelsea) Christel, Nicholas (Jeana) Nowaczewski, and Joseph Nowaczewski. Her joy continued with her status as a proud great-grandmother to Lucas, Logan, Emma, Anthony, Abigal, Nathan, and Gianna.
Marie was also preceded in death by her dearest siblings, including the late Margaret Lada, the late Ruby Burns, the late Elizabeth Janicki, and the late Josephine Kulick. Furthermore, she was the last of her brothers, with the late Peter Burns and the late David Burns also preceding her in death. along with her beloved sisters-in-law, the late Phyllis Burns and the late Vi Nowaczewski.
A cheerful spirit, Marie loved her family deeply, cherishing every gathering and holiday spent with them.
In remembrance of her life, a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at St. Thecla Catholic Church located at 20740 S Nunneley Road, Clinton Township, MI 48035. The visitation will commence at 9:30 AM, leading into the celebration of Mass at 10:30 AM. Marie's legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing her.
