Robert Franklin Grams, 89, of Clear Spring, MD, passed away, Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Williamsport Retirement Village.
Born Monday, August 20, 1934 in Smithsburg, MD, he was the son of the late Lee R. Grams and the late Dorothea (Humrichouse) Bice.
Bob graduated from Smithsburg High School in 1952. He was a United States Navy veteran serving during the Korean War. He was employed with Bell Atlantic, retiring after 44 years. Bob was a life long member of the Hagerstown Bible Church, where he served as Chairman of the Trustees, was an usher, signed for the deaf, visited the sick and shut-ins, as well as participating in two mission trips to Laredo, TX and Mexico. Bob also volunteered for 18 years at Camp Tohiglo. He belonged to Big Brother and AARP. Bob was very proud of being a blood donor, he donated approx. 230 pints of blood. He was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers and enjoyed his time spent with his "Telephone Buddies" at their monthly breakfast.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Cleo Jane (Mowen) Grams; daughters, Roxanne L. Walsh & husband Jonathan of Hagerstown, MD, Sandy L. Wood & husband David of Hedgesville, WV; son-in-law, Tommy Puffenburger of Hedgesville, WV; brother, Richard H. Grams of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Jenna, Kayla, Gavin, and Logan Walsh, Jason Wood, L.T. and Bobby Puffenburger; five great grandchildren and one on the way.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie D. Puffenburger; sisters, Marie V. Fahnestock, Anna Mae Kendall, Betty Jane McLucas, and Mary Lee Jewell; and brother, William E. Grams.
Services will be held Friday, February 16, 2024, at 11:00 am, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North Hagerstown, MD, with the Rev. Dale R. Carver officiating.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
Interment will be at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through Hagerstown Bible Church, 203 Summit Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21740 to Lighthouse Border Missions, Inc., for Daniel Cummings.
