Robert M. Gray, aged 77, beloved husband of Dolores (Wallence) Gray of Phoenixville, PA passed away on December 5, 2025 at the Southeastern Veterans Center in Spring City, PA.
Born on November 11, 1948, in Phoenixville, PA, Bo was the son of the late Robert J. and Gloria (Rosenberger) Gray. A proud 1967 graduate of Phoenixville High School, he was a standout athlete, playing as the quarterback for the 1966 Ches-Mont Championship Team. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he honorably served for three years during the Vietnam War with 1st Marine Division, 1st Reconnaissance battalion, Echo company. His bravery and sacrifice in service to his country earned him the Purple Heart.
After his military service, Bo worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue and had a dedicated career as a supervisor for the United States Postal Service in Pottstown.
Throughout his life, Bo remained dedicated to his community. He shared his passion for sports by coaching youth sports at St. Ann School and the Phoenixville YMCA and PMYC. His commitment to public service was evident during his 12 years on the Phoenixville Borough Council, including roles as council member and vice-president, culminating in his election as Mayor of Phoenixville in 1980.
A devoted parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Bo also was a member of several organizations, including VFW Post 1564, Disabled American Veterans, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children: Danielle Gray Krug and her husband Donald, Robert P. Gray and his wife Megan, Michael J. Gray and his wife Kimberly, and Janelle Gray. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Dr. Kaitlyn Hawkins and her husband Dr. Sam Hawkins, Gabrielle Krug, Bobby Gray, Jake Gray, Michael Gray, Gwendolyn Gray, Griffin Gray, Eric Brandt, and Brendon Brandt.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Ellen Davis and Barbara Collins, and his brother, George "Butch" Harig.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a viewing at the Devlin - Gatcha Funeral Home, located at 517 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA, on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Another viewing will take place at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 212 Dayton Street, Phoenixville, PA, on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Thomas Kletzel. Burial will take place at St. Ann Cemetery in Phoenixville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 212 Dayton Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
His legacy of service, love for family, and dedication to community will forever be remembered by all who knew him. Semper Fi
