Obituary published on Legacy.com by Schmidt Funeral Home - West Bend on Oct. 30, 2025.
Robert Gremminger, affectionately known to many as "Bob" or "Smiley," passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the age of 87. True to his nickname, he brightened every day with his grin, quick wit, and genuine love for connecting with people.
Born and raised on a farm in Campbellsport, Wisconsin, Bob learned early the values of hard work, kindness, and laughter, qualities that guided him throughout his life. After graduating from Campbellsport High School, he built a long and meaningful career with Amity Leather and later with the United States Postal Service, where he found joy not only in his work but also in the friendships he formed along his route. Delivering mail wasn't just a job, it was an opportunity to chat, share a laugh, and make someone's day a little brighter.
Bob never missed a chance to strike up a conversation. His jokes, sometimes corny but always good-hearted, were his way of bringing people together and making the world a bit lighter.
Outside of work, Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He found his greatest happiness in time spent with family. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, visiting casinos, and cheering on his favorite teams - the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, and Wisconsin Badgers. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves for seven years. For 10 years, he also volunteered with The Threshold Incorporated, helping to provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
Bob will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and his remarkable ability to make strangers feel like friends. He leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Bonnie Gremminger; his children Scott Gremminger, Kim (JR) Anderson, and Kerri (Rick Groshek) Gremminger; five grandchildren Scott Jr., Melissa, Nathan, Paul and Brendan; and four great-grandchildren - all of whom carry his laughter and love in their hearts.
He is also survived by his sisters S. Elaine Gremminger, OSF, Ruth Gremminger, and Carol Jones; brothers-in-law James Hohl and Kasem Nithipatikon; sisters-in-law Sandy (John) Reese and Kathy Hayes; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Frances Gremminger; father-in-law Alfred "Dodge" Kissinger; mother-in-law Mary Ann Kissinger; brothers Eugene "Bud," David, Roger and Donald Gremminger; sister Susan Hohl; and brother-in-law Earnest Jones.
