Robert Grove Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bishop-Hastings Funeral Home - Selbyville on Jun. 7, 2024.
Robert "Bob" Lee Grove, aged 81, of Fenwick Island, Delaware, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family, on June 2, 2024. He was born on January 20, 1943 in Alexandria, VA. Above all, Bob was defined by his dedication to his family, his boundless generosity and his zest for life.
Bob's passion for baseball was evident from a young age, and he carried that love with him throughout his life. He was a skilled player and played as often as he could. He served as an umpire while he attended Bethel University in McKenzie, TN. Bob also served a successful thirty-year career with United Airlines.
As an avid fishing and gardening enthusiast, Bob spent lots of time on the water, reeling in rockfish, or in his yard, tending to tomatoes. When he wasn't fishing, gardening or spending time with his wife and family, he could be found golfing, watching a Washington Nationals game, or making stained glass art.
Bob's family and friends were a source of pride for him, and anyone who knew Bob knew that he was the most loving husband, father, and grandfather a family could ask for, and he was a cherished friend to many.
Bob was proceeded in death by his parents, Charles and Mildred (née Drewry) and his brother, Charles "Bucky" Grove. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, and will forever reside in the hearts of his wife, Linda; his sister, Peggy (Lou); his two daughters, Robin (Dan) and Lucinda (Todd); his grandchildren, Nicholas, Tyler and Travis, Emily, Mason (Kate), Madi and McKenna; and 2 nieces and 3 nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Swann Cove Pool House (36826 Herring Way, Selbyville, DE 19975).
