Robert Logan Grunig

Robert Logan “Bob” Grunig, age 65, passed away on July 29, 2025. He was born September 28, 1959, in Brigham City, Utah, to Gary and Deanna Grunig.

Bob grew up with a love for sports and the outdoors, and from an early age, his energy and determination were clear. He graduated from Box Elder High School in 1977, where he excelled as a multi-sport athlete—earning All-State honors in wrestling, lettering in football all four years, and playing on the International All-Star Baseball Pony League. He was named Outstanding Athlete of the Year and received multiple college scholarships his junior year. Sadly, a knee injury cut his promising athletic career short, but never dimmed his competitive spirit.

In 1979, Bob graduated from the State of Utah Barber School and went on to enjoy a long and respected career as a barber. He worked at Utah State University in Logan, Wyatt’s Barber Shop in Brigham City, and later opened his own shop, Bob’s Cuts. Known for his steady hands and easy conversation, Bob made lasting friendships with his clients and colleagues over the years.

He married Lisa Sylvester on August 27, 1983, and together they raised four children: Logan (Carly) Grunig, Dalton (Shaylie) Grunig, Colten Grunig, and Shaili (Jarrod) Mitchell. Though Bob and Lisa later divorced, they remained united in their love for their children and grandchildren.

He loved motorcycles, camping, hunting, and fishing—especially when shared with his family. Whether around a campfire or on a backroad ride, Bob found joy and peace in the outdoors.

Bob is survived by his children and their spouses, 12 grandchildren, his sister Geri Shaw, and his niece Crystal Parker. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gary and Deanna Grunig.

His legacy lives on in the grit, humor, and heart he passed down to his family and in the lives he touched with his craft.“Sweet Home Alabama” was always playing when Bob showed up — dancing the Gator, and being the life of the party. No one could wait for him to arrive, and everyone who knew him will never forget him. He also passed on his passion for motorcycles and a meticulous love of shiny trucks and bikes—a pride in keeping things clean and cared for that his kids still carry today.

A graveside service will be held Friday, August 1 at 10:00 AM at the Riverview Cemetery - 175 E 1200 So, Tremonton, Utah.
