Robert Rodchester Guree, Jr., affectionately known as Bob, was born July 3, 1958, in Pineville, LA and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. From the moment Bob was born, he brought nothing but joy, happiness and sunshine to all who knew him. Bob's life was not short of challenges. Challenges helped to shape the way he lived his life. A life that was full of fearless determination, love and laughter.

Bob grew up in the small town of Oakdale with his mother, stepfather and 4 sisters. He attended school in Baton Rouge at the Louisiana School for the Blind from kindergarten through 12th grade, until he graduated in 1977. During his senior year, Bob completed the Randolph Sheppard Vending Facility Training Program. He was successfully self-employed for 30 years as a vending stand operator, until his retirement in 2007.

Although Bob may no longer be here with us on earth, we believe he has left a mark on all lucky enough to have known him. From the moment he was diagnosed with cancer, he armed himself for battle. Bob put one foot in front of the other facing what he knew from the start was an incurable disease. He did so with grace, dignity, integrity and courage. Bob fought cancer to the very end. Cancer did not beat Bob. Bob faced cancer head on, unafraid with his closest ally, Jesus Christ, his Savior whom he dedicated his life to in 1982.

Bob most enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He had the uncanny ability of recalling statistics from years past, especially for his favorite team, the LSU Tigers. Bob would want all of us to remember him with a smile rather than with tears. He would want us to find comfort in knowing he is free from pain and home with his Heavenly Father. Bob will always continue to bring sunshine into our lives. We will miss his witty, mostly corny, sense of humor, his contagious smile and his love of life. He will be deeply loved forever and will never be forgotten. Bob was that "one in a million" special kind of person. Family meant everything to Bob and he leaves a legacy of love that will be deeply missed.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Dean Guree, of Lafayette, LA; his mother, Annie Laura Johnson Doyle, of Oakdale, LA; his son, Bobby Guree and his wife, Valerie, of Kinder, LA; his daughter, Tracie Bordelon and her husband, Marc, of Lafayette, LA; his five grandchildren, Elijah Guree, Mason Bordelon, Eliana Guree, Jackson Bordelon and Madelyn Bordelon; his four sisters, Cennie Guree, of Kingston Springs, TN, Susie Ortega, of Oakdale, LA, Carrie Deshotel and her husband, Randy, of Oakdale, LA and Angela Morrow and her husband, David, of Ruston, LA and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Albert Doyle.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Elijah Guree, Mason Bordelon, Jackson Bordelon, Paul Hebert, David Morrow and James LeMaire.

Honorary Bearers will be Marc Bordelon and Randy Deshotel.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of Acadiana, Dr. Sweekriti Adhikari and Dr. Jeremy White, as well as his loving sister, Susie Ortega for the compassionate care given to Bob and his family.
