Robert D. "Bob" Haimbaugh, age 88, of Litchfield, formerly of Niles MI, and Prosperity SC, passed away surrounded by his loving family at home on Monday, February 24, 2025. He was born in Plymouth, IN on December 28, 1936, to Russell and Leatha (Walters) Haimbaugh. Robert married Betty Ann Hass on June 10, 1961, and she survives.
Bob graduated from Niles High School class of 1954 and went on to serve his country in the United States Army National Guard for several years. He worked at Sears In the automotive department, a welder at Niles Steel Tank, and worked as a refrigeration engineer for Tyler Refrigeration for 30 years. When he wasn't working, Bob was Mr. Fix it. He was a talented welder and builder and could find a way to fix anything. He enjoyed taking pilot lessons and was passionate about mission work. He has taken multiple mission trips to South Carolina, Uruguay, Puerto Rico, northern Michigan and West Virginia and Jamacia. Above all, he cherished his time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Betty Ann Haimbaugh; two children, Dennis (Sharm) Haimbaugh, and April Haimbaugh-Cooke; four siblings, Betty Robbins, Marilynn White, Helen (Richard) Critchlow, and Jack (Joyce) Haimbaugh; five grandchildren, Alexandria Haimbaugh, Erica (Michael) DiLaura, Audrey Beth Haimbaugh, Seth (Summer) Cooke, and Noah Cooke; three great-grandchildren, Thomas Hollinger, Becket DiLaura and Felix DiLaura; one sister-in-law, Sandy Haimbaugh; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jeff Haimbaugh; one son-in-law, Mark Cooke; brothers, Clifford and Howard Haimbaugh; and one brother-in-law, Jim Robbins.
Memorial services for Robert D. "Bob" Haimbaugh will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Litchfield First Baptist Church with Pastor Brent Stille officiating. Family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00AM till the time of the service. Burial will take place at a later date at the Salem Cemetery in Berrien Springs.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Litchfield First Baptist Church 6630 Litchfield Rd., Litchfield, MI 49252, or Hospice of Hillsdale County 124 Howell ST, Hillsdale, MI 49242 -2010.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Litchfield.
