Robert L. Haines, Sr., 95, of Manhattan, KS (formerly of central Illinois), passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025.

He was a retired military veteran, devoted employee (he worked for Springfield Bakers Supply for 35 years), and a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan. "Grandpa Bob" had a kind heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. His life was a testament to hard work, providing for his family until he passed. He was also a devoted supporter of the ASPCA and the Wounded Warrior Project

He is survived by his children, Bonnie Haines, Eda (Scott) Nielsen, and Robert (Beverley) Haines, Jr., and his devoted nephew, Henry "Buddy" Haines, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, as well as his sister, Edith Sausaman, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, mother, and 10 siblings.

Robert was born in New City, IL, on September 24, 1929, to Ira and Bessie Haines. He graduated from Ball Township High School, where he played multiple sports for his four years there and was also on student council. He joined the U.S. Army shortly after high school, serving on active duty for two years and in the Illinois Army National Guard until his retirement in 1993. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, including taking his grandson, Evan, and granddaughter, Amanda, to Cardinals games.
