Austin Eugene Nightser was born on December 29, 1960, in Spokane, Washington. From a young age, it was clear he was destined to serve something greater than himself. He answered that calling with pride and honor, dedicating over 22 years of his life to the United States Army. Through his service—much of it stationed overseas in Germany—he demonstrated unwavering courage, discipline, and selflessness. He gave his country everything he had, never once asking for anything in return.

While home on leave, Austin welcomed his first daughter, Jessica Nightser, into the world on March 30, 1981. Years later, he was blessed with his youngest daughter, Haley Nightser, born August 15, 1996. Life did not always unfold the way he had hoped, and though he wasn’t able to raise Jessica, he loved her deeply from afar.

To Haley, he was everything. Her rock. Her role model. Her constant. Austin raised Haley with a strength and gentleness that only a true father could provide. He was honest, dependable, incredibly smart, and endlessly selfless. He sacrificed so much to ensure she had everything she needed—and more. His love wasn’t loud; it was steady, protective, and unconditional.

Austin Nightser was a soldier, a father, a protector, and a quiet hero. His legacy isn’t just in the years he served—but in the love he gave, the values he lived by, and the daughter he raised with all his heart.

In addition to being a father, Austin was also a grandfather. On June 30, 2007, Jessica gave birth to his granddaughter, Emmi. Though his time with her was brief, his pride and love as a grandfather were undeniable. Through Emmi, a new generation carries forward his strength, his kindness, and his legacy.

He will be missed more than words can ever fully express, but his love and example will live on forever in those who knew him—especially in the heart of his little girl, who will always be proud to call him Dad.
