Robert Hamm, age 89 of Litchfield, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City at 3:00PM with visitation from 1:00-3:00. The service will be livestreamed on www.johnsonhagglund.com.
Robert Richard Hamm, the son of Charles and Vera Belle (Manee) Hamm, was born on May 28, 1934 in Renville, Minnesota. He lived in Renville until the age of five, and then grew up in rural Litchfield. He was baptized on May 23, 1969 at Grove City Immanuel Lutheran Church. Bob attended Litchfield High School and graduated on his 18th birthday – May 28, 1952. He also attended the University of Minnesota after high school.
On November 25, 1955, he was united in marriage to Juliet Davidson in Cokato, Minnesota. They made their home in Litchfield until 1968 when they moved to Grove City. He worked for the Meeker County Highway Department, and then started working at 3M in Hutchinson until retiring in 1994. He also planted and harvested crops for 54 years.
Robert enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, and gardening after he retired from 3M. He also enjoyed being with his family, watching movies, and buying new cars! He especially loved sports. He attended all three of the Allstar games that were in MN. He enjoyed the Vikings, Twins and MN High School State Basketball Tournaments. Bob and Julie also enjoyed spending time in Laughlin, Las Vegas and Lake Havasu. While down south, Bob enjoyed golfing and going to movies.
He is survived by his children, Bradley (Wendy) Hamm of Buffalo, Bruce (Linda) Hamm of Litchfield, Brenda Behrens (Steve Kline) of North Branch, Bonnie (Brian) Martin of Grove City, 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Michael and Connie Hamm of Litchfield, Barb and Fred Behnke of Grove City, Joe and Shirley Hamm of Buffalo and Audrey and Rick Twite of Lindstrom; In-laws Daniel (Patty) Davidson of Virginia, MN, Gabe (Terry) Davidson of Annandale, Josie (Bill) Triplett of Maple Lake, Henrietta (Ron) Aronsohn of Las Vegas, NV; and special friend Maxine Nickerson.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Juliet and parents, Charles and Vera Belle Hamm.
