Robert Wriston Hanshew, Jr. 87, of Landisburg passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on July 23, 2024.
He was born on December 27, 1936; he was the son of the late Robert Wriston Hanshew, Sr. and Bessie Mae Miller Hanshew.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Grace Hanshew and his second wife, Shirley Midget Canterbury; sisters, Betty and Rose ; son. John William Hanshew; a grandson, Keith William Heffernan and a special friend, Emmie Cooper.
Robert was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church of Crickmer. He loved to golf, working with his hands and helping people.
Those left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Edith Rose Woodward and Terry of Long Island, NY, Barbara Heffernan and Skip of Kokomo, IN; three sons, Robert Lee Hanshew and Suzanne of Appomattox, VA, William Henry Hanshew of Lakeland, FL and James Edward Hanshew and Pamela of Kokomo, IN; three sisters, Pat Sheets of Danese, Judy Whalen of Lady Lake, FL and Sue Redden of Meadow Bridge; daughter-in-law, Diana Barrett of Lithia FL; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; extended family, Jeff Canterbury and Sandy of Fayetteville, Anita Bess-Smart of Cary, NC, Karen Bainer and Steve, Becky Wood and Bruce, Fonda Shocky and Raymond and Luke Gilliam and Tina.
Service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle with Pastor Steve Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville. Friends may gather with the family at the funeral chapel on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m.
