Robert Hart Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 12, 2025.
Robert "Bob" Forrest Hart, 81, of Ham Lake, Minnesota, passed away on September 9, 2025. Bob was born on March 9, 1944, in Vanport, Oregon, to Robert and Doris Hart. He grew up in Minneapolis and later Saint Anthony, Minnesota. He was a 1962 graduate of Marshall High School. Bob married the love of his life, Gail, on June 22, 1963. Together they built a home and raised their family in Columbia Heights and later he built a new home in Ham Lake, where they created countless memories. Bob worked as a truck driver for 30 years, a career in which he took great pride. He was a two-time state truck rodeo champion and earned third place in the nation during his driving years. After retiring, Bob continued to put his handyman skills to use by remodeling and lending a helping hand to anyone in need with a project in mind. No project was too big or small. He had many passions-hunting, fishing, sweets, and gambling (not necessarily in that order). While playing pull tabs he was often heard saying, "I can't believe I didn't win." His love for hunting and fishing took him across eight states, three countries, and two continents. Most of all, Bob loved sharing his joys with his grandchildren, whether introducing them to the outdoors or indulging them with sweet treats. Did someone mention doughnuts? Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Gail; his brother, Melvin; and his sister, Dorrese. He is survived by his daughter, Shodee (Bob), and his son, Melvin (Kim); along with his grandchildren, Lydia (Andrew), Shelby (Brock), Dylan, and Emily. Special niece; Dorrese (David) Larson. Special goddaughter; Quincy (Jason) Curry. A private ceremony will be held for the immediate family. Memorial donations can be made to the Mel Hart Scholarship Fund. Checks should be made out to "St. Anthony High School" and mailed to: Washburn-McReavy Mel Hart Scholarship 2600 19th Avenue N.E. Minneapolis, MN 55418
