Robert E. Hasenyager, 94, passed away peacefully after a short illness on February 17, 2023.
Bob was born on January 9, 1929 in Princeton, Illinois to Frederick and Isabelle Hasenyager. He lived most of his life in Wadsworth, Ohio. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. He worked several jobs over his lifetime including Quaker Oats, Bearfoot Sole, Beltz Lawn and Garden Equipment and retired from Buy Rite Lumber. He prided himself as owner of Hasenyager's Gulf Service, which he owned in the late 1960's and 1970's.
Bob enjoyed hunting, camping and could often be found tinkering with motors and engines, although his greatest pleasures came with time spent with his family. He enjoyed many years creating memories at the property near Salt Fork. Bob also had a great love for dogs throughout his life and noted them as Man's Best Friend.
Bob was a member of the Wadsworth United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of nearly 64 years Mary Mae, his daughter Lana Rahe and siblings Charles, Bernard, Donald, Wayne, Burton, Marvin, Richard, Phyllis Ickes and Donna Heggemeier.
Bob is survived by daughters Luann Wemmer of New Bern, North Carolina and Lorie (Chris) Santimarino of Copley, Ohio. "Papa Bobby" will sadly be missed by his grandchildren Sarah (Scott) Chouinard, Celeste Rock, Dan Rahe, Ryan Wemmer, Lindsey Santimarino and Nick Santimarino. He also leaves behind 5 precious great grandsons, Tysen Rock, Carsten and Grady Chouinard, Kyrie Rahe and Jace Edwards.
Bob is survived by his sister Mary Lou Hopkins, sister-in-law Martha Hasenyager and brother-in-law Donald Heggemeier. He is also survived by sons-in-law Bart (Cindy) Rahe and Patrick (Sue) Wemmer.
A special thanks to the staff at Liberty II and Altercare for the kind, compassionate care Dad received.
A memorial service for Bob and Mary will be held at Wadsworth United Methodist Church on Friday, February 24 at 11:00am. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial at Greenlawn Cemetery.
