Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 4, 2024 at 3:30 p.m. at First Cornerstone Baptist Church, 917 Cayten Street, Picayune, MS. Bishop Vernon Robinson is Pastor. Interment will be in the Picayune Cemetery with Military Honors.
A soldier has gained his crown, Robert (69) completed his service for the Lord on September 1, 2024 at the resident of Memorial Woodland Village in Diamondhead, Mississippi.
Robert Earl Hawkins Sr. was born on December 15, 1954 in Picayune, MS to Ellie Cile Hawkins and Ezollie Walls, Jr. but he was raised by his adoptive parents Ezollie Walls Sr. and Lucille Walls. He attended Carver High School where he graduated in 1974. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served for 10 Years.
During his early childhood years, Robert attended Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church. Later he joined Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Superintendent W.R. Keys. At Rose of Sharon, he also served under the leadership of Bishop J.E. Eaton and Elder David Simmons. Robert served in many capacities while at Rose of Sharon. In 2004, he was appointed pastor of the McDowell Memorial Church of God in Christ in Gulfport, Mississippi where he served for 19 years.
He was married to the late Missionary Elizabeth A. Hawkins and to this union one child was born, Mrs. Elicia R Hawkins Stewart. Robert loved the Lord, his family, and his church.
Robert was proceeded in death by his wife Elizaeth A. Hawkins, his son Robert E. Hawkins, Jr., his granddaughter Avionna Moon, his parents Ezollie Walls Sr., Lucille Walls, and Ezollie Walls Jr. (Melba), grandson Devante Moon, best friend Elder Andre Hinton.
He leaves to cherish his memories one and only daughter, Elicia Hawkins Stewart (LJ); three sisters, Kimberly White, Debra Walls Evans, Barbara Medrano (Eddie); great granddaughter,
Skylar Moon; brother-in-laws, Donald Berry (Diane), Jessie Berry (Maye Frances), Terry Tatum, and Stephon Tatum; sister-in-laws, Lisa Tatum, Dana Rivers; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
