Robert Steven “Steve” Henman

September 30, 1952 – March 31, 2023

 

Steve passed away on March 31, 2023, at home, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with

cancer.

 

The oldest of 5 children, Steve was born to Robert Clyde and Emma (Croft) Henman on September 30,

1952, in Rigby, ID. The family later moved to Idaho Falls, ID where Steve would spend most of his

childhood, graduating from Idaho Falls High School in 1970. After graduation, Steve briefly married

Teresa Taylor, of Idaho Falls, ID.

 

Annette Watts Hart of Idaho Falls became good friends with Steve through her brother Joe. By the early 80’s, Annette and Steve fell deeply in love and married April 6, 1981. Steve was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and in 1987 was sealed to Annette and their children in the Salt Lake City Temple. Steve absolutely adored Annette. That adoration only grew with time and served as an example to their children of how a spouse should be cherished.

 

Shortly after their marriage, Steve and Annette moved from Idaho Falls to Denver, CO where they would spend the next 8 years. In 1988, the family moved to Utah, eventually settling in Clearfield, where they would raise their family and live until Steve’s passing. Steve always treated providing for his family as his #1 priority. Steve spent his career working in building and grounds maintenance. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. There also wasn’t a part anyone needed, that he didn’t have…and he could tell you EXACTLY where to find it in the garage. His advice when it came to maintaining or fixing something:

If he didn’t have it, you didn’t need it

If you can’t afford it, don’t buy it

If you can use it to fix something later, keep it

 

Steve loved to spend his free time reading, fishing, hunting, and listening to music by the fire pit. Steve’s musical interests were broad and varied. He enjoyed introducing his children and grandchildren to music ranging from The Moody Blues to Metallica to the music of Riverdance. Steve had a hunger for learning…from nature and the outdoors, to antiques, or just cool old stuff. He would love to learn and then share what he had learned with those he loved.

 

If you’ve ever looked up the word “rockhound” in the dictionary, you would find a picture of Steve. He spent many vacations and road trips hunting and digging for rocks. He would then bring back his haul to clean, tumble, and otherwise fancify his finds to share with his children, grandchildren, and

frankly…anyone who was interested. Steve was also an avid beekeeper. He was well known for his

honey and apple butter, and as any of the grandkids would tell you, “Papa’s raspberry jam is the only

raspberry jam that matters”.

 

Steve is survived by his loving wife Annette, his 5 children: Jason Foster (Amanda), Breanna Bergin

(Dave), Travis Henman (Aline), Sable Henman, and Dane Henman (Lapriel), his 10 grandchildren: Carson, Briley, Alex, Peyton, Kaylan, Jaynx, Aiden, Noah, Jayda, and Olivia and his siblings Betty (Cal) Johnson, Mike (Jeri) Henman, and Teresa Hadfield.

 

 

Steve was preceded in death and is now fishing and laughing with his parents Robert and Emma, brother Tony (Christine), and brother- in-law Lee.

 

Thank you to dear friends that meant the world to Steve: Randy and Linda, Ryan, Rich, Mike, and Alan, as well as his Uncle Edward. Thank you for your blessings and care for him throughout his life, and especially through his illness.

 

The family would also like to thank the staff and doctors at Huntsman Cancer Institute, as well as the

nurses from Harmony Home Hospice for the care they provided Steve.

 

At Steve’s request, there will be no funeral or services. Steve’s ashes will be spread in Eastern Idaho at a later date.
