Robert (Bob) Alan Hertner, 88, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, after a very fulfilling and wonderful life. He was the oldest of two children born to Fred and Eva (Gorby) Hertner on November 8, 1936, in Davenport, IA. Bob graduated from Davenport High School and went on to have a successful career with Caterpillar Inc as a Supervisor in scheduling for heavy equipment.
Bob was a member of the Royal Order of the Mason's, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, American Legion, Lindsey Park Yacht Club in Davenport, IA, the Maple Leaf Golf Club and Lake Fairways Golf Club. He was a good man with a generous heart. His contagious smile could light a room. Bob loved to go boating and snowmobiling in his younger years and play a good round of golf in his later years, obtaining two holes in one. Bob had a big heart and loved all animals; he would jump at the chance to play and tease them. He had an ornery sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. Bob loved spending quality time with his friends and family.
Bob is survived by his wife of 4 years, Joan Paton of North Fort Myers, FL; Daughter, Kimberly (Steve, son-in-law) Krankoski of Punta Gorda, FL; Grandson, Chad Dittmer and Chads wife, Kathy Williams of Cape Coral, FL; Great-Granddaughter, Lindsey Dittmer; Great-great-grandchildren, Adriana, Jeremiah, Greyson, and Neveah; Nephew, John Hertner, Davenport, IA, and Niece, Shae Lynn Hollis of Summit, MO, and a host of other loving family and friends. Bob was predeceased by his brother John (Jack) Hertner.
Celebration of Life/Memorial will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 2:00 pm. Contact Samantha Murray at Baldwin Brothers at 239-308-9400 for details on location.
