Robert William Heydorn
"A Life Well Lived". Bob was born on August 26, 1946 to parents William P. Heydorn and Elsie (Hnida) Heydorn and passed away after a brief illness on April 19, 2022. He is survived by his beloved wife Louise (Scheck) Heydorn, Daughter Kathleen O'Dell, (Molly), grandchildren Mika and Kai Takahashi, of Waimanalo, Hawaii, Daughter Christine Benson (Jeffrey), grandchildren Shelby, John and Lucy Benson, of Silver Lake, Step Daughter Kathleen Doak, grandchildren Zachary, Ryan and Kristen Doak, of St. Charles, Missouri and Step Son Kevin Klingerman, (Erica) grandchildren Sarah, Megan and Kevin Jr. Klingerman, of New Albany, OH, and his "Texas family", brother Richard Heydorn, nephew and nieces and their children.
Bob was a lifelong resident of Silver Lake and Cuyahoga Falls, a loving father and grandpa, a true and loyal friend to many, an avid fisherman, an historian and world traveler. He was passionate about his beloved Silver Lake Village, serving as first a councilman and then Law Director. He loved and served Crystal Lake, where he spent his childhood days swimming and fishing and served on the Board of Director and as legal advisor for decades. He believed in the Rotary motto "Service Above Self" and dedicated many years to that organization both at the District level and as a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Rotary, with over 40 years perfect attendance. In Rotary, Bob held many offices, but by far his favorite was that of Rotary Youth Exchange chairman for all of Northeast Ohio, placing inbound and outbound teens in homes here and abroad. Bob loved the law and was a practicing attorney in the Falls for 46 years; he believed in helping people through fair and just means and many of his clients became lasting friends. Bob loved his country serving as Captain in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a citizen of the world, enjoying learning of new cultures and visiting people in their homes. He served his community in several organizations and was a life member of the Taylor Memorial Library Board of Directors. Bob truly enjoyed fishing and travelling to Canada with his YOMAS fishing friends of thirty years.
Bob will be remembered for his unwavering moral compass and as a kind, caring and compassionate friend, neighbor, husband and father, always ready for a chat or to help, never passing up a good debate or a history lecture. Bob served his Lord as a lifelong Christian believer and now is at peace.
