Robert Hibler Obituary

Published by Flanner Buchanan - Market Street on Apr. 6, 2009.
Robert D. Hibler Bob Hibler ended his battle with cancer April 6, 2009 after making every effort to win. Born in Indianapolis to Robert and Jane Hibler, he grew up as an avid participant in sports and with his brothers was involved in numerous projects including sending a mouse to it s destiny in a homemade rocket. Throughout high school and college Bob and his five friends (and they know who they are) performed various antics too numerous to mention. After graduating from North Central High School, Bob attended the University of Cincinnati earning a degree, in architecture. Bob married Cindy Collins and raised their children Brandi and Jesse. Bob was employed by several architectural firms in Indianapolis prior to forming his own firm Artekna Design, which specialized in hospital and medical facilities. Bob s marriage to Paula brought her daughter Jessica and their daughter Kate an additional part of his family. Paula learned that no house was ever done and that spackle mixed with food well, the smell of newly sawed lumber was like air freshener and to be ready for the next "I have an idea" moment. We will miss his strong spirit, his encouragement and his sense of humor. He taught his children to strive for excellence, to remain positive in the face of adversity and to always aim to be better. Bob loved coaching little league sports, constantly coming up with new projects around his home often waking his family to the sounds of power tools, sitting on the beach of Sanibel Island and reading. The Hibler family wishes to thank Dr. Jackie Joyce, Dr. Bharati Kharkar but special thanks to those nurses who cared for Bob at Bloomington Hospital. Bob was preceded in death by his father Robert Hibler; and is survived by his wife, Paula; his mother, Jane Hibler; his brothers, Don Hibler, Doug Hibler; children, Jesse Hibler, Brandi Dennis, Jessica Lynch, and Kate Hibler; four grandchildren; and former wife Cindy Thomas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Raphael Health Center, 401 E. 34th St. Indianapolis, IN 46205, where Bob donated his professional services and enjoyed the pitch-in dinner board meetings. Calling will be at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center- Broad Ripple Thursday April 9, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be private.
