Robert "Bobby" Gene Hicks age 80 away peacefully, Friday September 19,2025 under the care of Gentiva Hospice at home, (special thanks to Latrece and Tasha for the phenomenal Care they gave).
He was the son of Cecil Hicks and Pauline Hopkins. He was born in War, West Virginia on May 26, 1945
He was formally from Monroe, Georgia, but was residing in Metter, Georgia at the time his passing. He met the love of his life Betty Lou Stephens and the two were married December 3, 1964 in Good Hope, Georgia. She preceded him in death on April 14, 2017 after 52 years of marriage. The couple became passionate about their faith in Jesus Christ, they served for over 30 years at Monroe Congregational Holiness Church. She sang in the choir and conducted children's church while he conducted missionary work, coordinating through the men's ministry group and music ministry by playing his cherished Gibson guitar every service which encouraged the congregation to join in on the worship services creating precious memories.
The couple raised three children in a country home setting they built in 1972 they had one daughter Karen Hicks from Metter, Georgia who was the couple's main caregiver. They had two sons, Scott Hicks from Monroe, Georgia, and Johnny Hicks from Winder, Georgia. He was a grandfather to six children, and a great-grandfather to nine children.
He was a successful HVAC contractor proudly operating Bob's heating and air that greatly sustained his family for 36 years with his wife by his side managing the clerical aspects of the company. They were a great team in all they had done. Now the family believes they are united in heaven and enjoying being in the presence of the Lord. Dad will always be remembered by his contagious laughter the jokes he told and the many scriptures he would quote. And last, but certainly not least, his beautiful guitar picking as he called it. He had a persistent love for drinking coffee even in 90-degree weather. He will greatly be missed by many!
The family plans to have a memorial service at a later date.
