Robert (Bob) Hobein, of St. Peters, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at the age of 77. Devoted husband of Kathy Hobein. Loving father of Nicole (Niki) Phillips and Neely Hobein. Cherished grandfather of Alayna and Bennet Phillips. Beloved brother to Jack and Marilyn Hobein; dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Luella Hobein; his brothers, Ed Hobein, Larry (Onalee) Hobein, and Bill (Gerry) Hobein; his sisters, Shirley (Art) Karniski, Barbara (Clyde) Morris, and Lois (Jim) LoPiccolo.
Bob was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on January 3, 1947. He spent his youth living in North St. Louis City and County where he enjoyed playing soccer and baseball and made lifelong friends. After earning his high school diploma, he was drafted into the US Army where he served his country both in Hawaii and locally at Jefferson Barracks from 1966-1968. After his time in the service, he met the love of his life, Kathy and they were happily married for 52 years. Bob started his apprenticeship in 1972 and worked for 40 years as a union meatcutter for Local 88.
Bob's relationships with his family and friends brought him the greatest joy; he was always willing to extend a helping hand and offer support. He enjoyed music, boating, sports, home projects and the simple pleasures of life; he never missed a party or an opportunity to gather with those he loved. He will be remembered as an honest, hard-working, generous man with an impeccable character and integrity. He honored traditions, and was a loyal patriot to his country. His love and dedication to his family was evident in how he lived his life. He will be greatly missed and his memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be on Sunday, August 25th, 2024 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm with a funeral service starting at 12:00pm at St. Peters Chapel, Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. A Celebration of Life will be held after the service for family and close friends starting at 2pm at Persimmon Woods Golf Club, 6401 Weldon Spring Parkway, St. Charles, Missouri. A private, military burial service will take place at Jefferson Barracks at a later date.
