Columbia, NC - Robert Harold Hogan May 1, 1955 – August 17, 2025
Robert Harold Hogan, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia, at the age of 70. Born in Frankfort, Kentucky, on May 1, 1955, Robert lived a life full of passion, creativity, and dedication that touched the hearts of many. At the time of his passing, he was living in Columbia, North Carolina.
A scholar and an artist, Robert earned degrees in Music Education and Business Administration and later his Master's in Public Administration and International Relations from Kentucky State University. He went on to serve as a college professor, teaching and guiding students during his time there. Beyond academia, he was a gifted musician who played in many bands as a drummer and later operated his own home studio. He shared his love for music with others by teaching, mentoring, and celebrating every genre.
Robert's interests extended far beyond the classroom and stage. He loved theater and art, cherished the peace he found in fishing, and was known for his words of encouragement - often reminding others with his favorite phrases, "I believe in you" and "You got this." Even through his private battle with cancer, Robert remained a source of strength and hope for those around him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Harold Henson Hogan; his mother, Delores Elaine (Oglesby); his stepmother, Norma Jean Hogan; brother Kenny Hogan; grandmothers Elizabeth Oglesby and Edna Washington; grandfathers Robert P. Oglesby and Robert B. Hogan; and his uncle, Robert E. Hogan.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Tenny Teresa (Blankenship) Hogan; his children, Chris Hogan (Emily), Willie Hogan, Bethannie Fought (Jason), Angelique Morales (Juan), and Daniel Fought (Kristyn); his grandchildren, Wyatt Hogan, Xavier Hogan, Alex, Sarah, and Matthew; his sisters, Anita Nevils and Janet Haynes; his aunts, Shirley Hogan and Adranna Hardin; five great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws of the Hogan, Jones, Harris, Roberts, Winfield, Williams, and Washington families, along with dear friends whose lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Frankfort, Kentucky, where family and friends will gather to honor Robert's remarkable life.
