Paul Donald Chadwick

Norfolk - Paul Donald Chadwick, a beloved husband, father, and educator, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Norfolk, VA, at the age of 86. Born on June 10, 1939, in Alton, IL, Paul lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his faith, and his passion for teaching.
Paul proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. Following his service, he embarked on a distinguished career in education, sharing his love for science and math with countless students over more than 35 years as a 5th-grade teacher. His commitment to nurturing young minds was unmatched, and his impact on both his students and colleagues was profound.
Paul earned a Doctorate in Education from Sam Houston University in Texas, a testament to his lifelong dedication to learning and excellence in his field. He and his devoted wife, Gillian (Sushems) Chadwick, were active members of Miles United Methodist Church on Granby St in Norfolk, VA, where they nurtured their faith and built lasting friendships.
Family was the cornerstone of Paul's life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Isabel (Whitmore) Chadwick, his brother, Richard Chadwick, and his sister, Shirley Chadwick. He is survived by his loving wife, Gillian, his sons, Gary (Cheryl) Tubbs and Guy (Sara) Tubbs, grandsons, Vann and Bohden Tubbs, with a great-grandchild on the way; and his sister, Sissy Bittig. Paul's extended family and many friends will remember him fondly and miss him dearly.
Paul's legacy is one of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear. He was a wonderful father, and nothing was more important to him than his family. His gentle spirit and warm heart touched all who had the honor of knowing him.
