Obituary published on Legacy.com by Coastal Cremations and Funeral Care - Norfolk on Feb. 12, 2026.
Ricardo A. Arús Rivera, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, in Hampton, Virginia, at the age of 73. Born on October 21, 1952, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Ricardo lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his country, and his passions.

Ricardo proudly served in the U.S. Army, where he earned numerous commendations for his exemplary service. His decorations include the Army Achievement Medal for Meritorious Achievement, the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service as an Administrative and Safety Noncommissioned Officer, and the Meritorious Service Medal for his outstanding contributions as an Administrative Noncommissioned Officer in Charge. His military career was a testament to his unwavering commitment and leadership.

After retiring from the Army, Ricardo pursued his interest in criminal law, earning an Associate's Degree from Saint Leo's College at the Ft. Eustis campus. In his retirement, Ricardo found joy in spending time with his cherished family, especially his devoted wife of nearly 50 years, Priscilla, and their daughter, Liana. He was a proud father to his son, Ricardo Jr., and a loving grandfather to Natalya Innette Arús and Ricardo Daniel Arús-Orengo. In April 2024, he was blessed with the arrival of his great-grandson, Orion Arús, who brought him immense joy.

Ricardo had a passion for travel, often embarking on adventures with Priscilla, his best friend and partner in life. He also enjoyed playing volleyball and baseball and took pleasure in refereeing Little League Baseball, Soccer, and Basketball games.

Preceded in death by his father, Demterio A. Arús, and his mother, Amparo Rivera, Ricardo leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Z. Arús; his daughter, Liana I. Arús; his son, Ricardo A. Arús Jr.; his grandchildren, Natalya Innette Arús and Ricardo Daniel Arús-Orengo; his great-grandson, Orion Arús; his brother, Jose M. Arús; and his sister, Aida Noemi Arús.

A memorial service and burial will be held in Puerto Rico at the Cemeterio Nacional de Puerto Rico, with the date to be determined. Ricardo's family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and honor his memory, cherishing the moments they shared with him and the love he bestowed upon them.

May he rest in peace, forever remembered and forever loved.
