Robert H. “Bobby” Holliday, 76, of Forest Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday August 3, 2025. He was born June 2, 1949, at Bradley, WV to the late James and Garnett (Burnett) Holliday.
Bobby married Ellen (Floyd) in 1970, this year they would celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary. They were blessed with their children: Susan (Holliday) Thompson and husband Brandon, Lisa Holliday, and Juan Holliday. He was a loving grandfather to Haylie (Thompson) Hodge and husband Michael and Katelyn (Thompson) Kessinger and husband Jacob and great-grandfather to Payslie, Roran, Braxton, and a new baby coming in February 2026.
He spent his life caring for others, starting as a CNA at BARH then as a respiratory therapist working in the hospital and through the durable medical equipment industry. He started the first DME company in Beckley in 1978. Bobby always went out of his way to take care of others. He was also passionate about farming and gardening. He enjoyed spending time on his farm with the cattle or working in the garden. Bobby’s personality was larger than life; he always had a joke or a story to share. His laugh and smile were contagious.
In addition to his parents Bobby was preceded in death by siblings: Patty Ballard, Irene Graham, Carol Martin, James Holliday, Tommy Holliday, Paul Holliday, and Joe Holliday.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings: Richard, Betty, Teresa, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
Although we miss him deeply, we know we will see him again. Our loss is Heaven’s gain.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2025 in the Calfee Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Sam Groves officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday.
