Robert C. “Bobby” Hooper, 76, of Lake Charles passed away at 10:38 PM on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 in his residence.

Born on October 17, 1948, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Mr. Hooper was raised in Moss Bluff and graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1966. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Vietnam. Mr. Hooper was a dedicated member of Pipefitter Local 106, where he worked for over 40 years before retiring in 2011. He was deeply respected by his colleagues and took great pride in his work. He was a member of Apostolic Temple and was a devoted follower of his faith, which guided him throughout his life.

In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing softball and was known for his love of sports. He was an avid LSU fan, particularly when it came to LSU Baseball.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 46 years, Ida Mae Martin Hooper of Lake Charles; children, Julie “Candie” Morris (Kevin) of Lake Charles, Krista Hooper of St. Louis, MO, and Katie Hooper of Lake Charles; brother, David Hooper (Colleen) of Lake Charles; sisters, Wanda Thigpen (Sherman) of Moss Bluff, Leah Romain (Ricky) of Ragley, and Kathy Louviere (Scott) of Moss Bluff; and grandchildren, Brock LaVergne, Devin LaVergne, and Emma Morris.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ophelia and Harry Hooper.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the Apostolic Temple. Pastor Ricky Treece will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin in Johnson Funeral Home on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue in the church on Saturday from 12:00 PM until the start of the service. Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite LSU attire for the visitation on Friday in Mr. Hooper’s memory.
