Robert Hoover Obituary
Born August 31, 1936, in Richmond, Indiana, to Robert J. Hoover and Dorothy J. Knight Biga, Robert has lived in this community most of his life. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1954 and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Bob retired from Chrysler Corp. after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Indiana National Guard Company A of Richmond, Indiana, and the American Legion. Bob enjoyed fishing, reading, traveling, horseback riding, attending church, and gardening. He loved coaching little league and was an avid football and baseball fan.
Survivors include his children, Debra (Jim) Sams, of Centerville, Indiana, Douglas Hoover, of Sachse, Texas, Stephanie (Earl) Jacobson of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Rick Hoover, of Richmond, Indiana; grandchildren, Anthony (Karen) Sams, Amber Pence, Bailee Hoover, Jessica (Larry Roark) Cowin, Rachel (Kyle) Jones, Ryan Morgan Hoover, Jessica Hobson, Courtney Elizabeth Hoover; great grandchildren, Judah Sams, Noah Sams, Liam Pence, Lexi Pence, Aquila Roark, Carter Jones, and Theo Jones.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Hoover; son, Daryl Hoover; parents; and stepdaughter, Rena L. Cook.
Visitation for Robert J. Hoover Jr. will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Branden Pahl officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
