Robert R. Horst, 88, of Millhome, passed away peacefully on Friday March 29, 2024 at Field of Dreams Assisted Living Facility in Kiel. He was born on November 5, 1935 in Sheboygan, son of the late Reinhold and Mathilda (Schultz) Horst. He graduated from Kiel High School. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1957 until 1958 and again from 1961 until 1962.
On January 9, 1960 he was united in marriage to Monica Meyer in Plymouth. Together Bob and Monica enjoyed camping with friends, traveling, and snowmobiling. Bob was a dedicated employee of the Kohler Company as a wood pattern maker until his retirement. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Kohler. During this time, he also owned Millhome-Wood Pattern Making. His wood pattern creations helped many local foundries and companies including the Kiel Foundry and Gopher Musky Baits. He was an active member of the Louis Corners SnoBirds Club, where he helped organize their Bingo fundraisers. Bob also was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. During his free time he was an avid fan of WI sports and loved to watch Gunsmoke and other westerns on TV.
Bob is survived by his 2 sons; Mike (Judy) Horst, Kiel, Jim (Mike Lasser) Horst, Milwaukee, daughter-in-law; Lisa Horst, Kiel, grandchildren; Joshua Horst, Jake (Ashley) Horst, Chelsea (Matt) Burris, Matt (Shana) Horst and Nick (Kendra) Horst, great grandchildren; Ari, Elise, Emma, Lyla, Maci, Cullen, Malcolm and Myles. He is further survived by nephews; Bill and Chuck (Chris) Chandler along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Monica, son; Steve, great granddaughter; Makenzie and a sister; Audrey (Roger) Chandler.
He was well known for his many "Bob-isms"
In accordance with Bob's wishes, private family services will be held. Burial will take place in the Kiel Belitz Cemetery. Bob's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Field of Dreams and the Hospice caregivers who cared for Bob and helped him in so many ways.
