Robert Leroy Hough Jr., 76, of Whitehall, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025. He was a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and brother. He was born on January 11, 1949, in Muskegon, the son of Robert Sr. and Lydia (Baker) Hough.

Bob chose the Navy over college after high school. He served in the Vietnam War. Was honorably discharged and began his career at Meijer and retired from HVAC. He was known for his wealth of knowledge on a wide variety of subjects and was a mentor to many. He was an avid fisherman and hunter for most of his life. Also he was a lifelong Lions fan and never missed a game.

Bob was married to Linda (Maleckas) Hough for 48 years before her passing at the end of August of this year. The loss proved to be too great and ultimately passed from a broken heart.

Robert is survived by: his daughter, Carrie Grinwis; two grandchildren, Andrew and Jacob Grinwis; siblings, Dianna (Larry) Moore, and Linda Hoekstra; John (Gail) Maleckas, Kathleen Whitman, Jasmine Bondae, Eric (Irma) Free, Deb (Arnie) Anderson, Sue (Frank) Ross, Betty Ann (Rick) Newcomb; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bob was preceded in death by: his parents, Robert & Lydia Hough; wife, Linda Hough, son-in-law, Chad Grinwis; and brother Jim & (Bea) Hough, brothers in law, Frank Whitman, Theordore Baran, LeRoy Draby, Ralph Draby, & Lee & (Sharon) Kimes.

In accordance with Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside military honor service will be held at the Fruitland Township Cemetery sometime in June 2026 with a gathering at his home afterwards. His daughter will release further information once a date is decided.

Bob was helped by many and it would be an honor to pay it forward.
