Robert Lee Hubler, " Chief Bob"
Age 74 passed away Friday, December 6, 2024 peacefully in his sleep at home. Chief Bob was born on June 19, 1950 to the late Thomas and Bertha Lou (Thompson)Hubler. He graduated from North East, Class of '68. After high school he enlisted the United States Navy in December 1968 and served until July 1989. He was stationed in San Diego California, serving on the USS Sperry AS – 12 and the USS ranger CV – 61, eventually earning the rank of Chief(E-7). After retiring from the Navy, Chief returned to North East and worked with Master carpenter Vinny Shioleno until officially retiring at age 65. Chief Bob enjoyed having fires, cigars, bowling, golfing (especailly barefoot), and attending or watching Navy & Steeler football games. He was an active member and volunteer, participating in the American Legion Post 105, VFW Post 4789, Brotherhood of St Joseph, North East Athletic Club, North East Moose 2568, and the AMVETS Post 550 of Zephyrhills FL. In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his wife of 18 years Doris, whom he married on August 16, 1998. As well as his beloved dog Richie. He is survived by his daughters Debbie Wilson (Cowboy) and Becky Wilson (Matt), grandson Billy Triana (Sarah), Great granddaughters Lily Bug and Frankie Jo, his brother Bryan Hubler (Donna), nieces Michele (Jeremy) Turlington and Heather (Greg) Schnars and great nephews and nieces. Celebration of life will be held at the American Legion Post 105 in North East on Tuesday December 10th from 4pm-8pm with military honors at 5:30 pm. Memorials may be sent to the ANNA Shelter of Erie.
