Robert Dennis Jackowski Sr., affectionately known as "Bob", 79, a longtime Hyde Park resident, died on March 4th, 2023, at Advent Hospital, Orlando, Florida.
Born February 26, 1944, in Rhinebeck, he was raised by his grandparents, Joseph and Josephine Wisnieski.
A graduate of Dutchess Community College and Marist College with a degree in Computer Programming, Bob worked at IBM for thirty years before retiring. He was a proud member of the IBM Quarter Century Club.
Bob was also co-owner of the former Hyde Park Gift Shop and Jackowski Screenprinting. In his retirement, he was a school bus driver for both Red Hook and Hyde Park Schools, and driver for both Molt's Used Auto Parts and CRS Tire.
On October 3, 1964, in St. Peter's Church, Poughkeepsie, he married the former Katherine A. Eckert. His wife predeceased him in 1994.
Bob was involved in coaching for many years. He coached for the Hyde Park Little League and Regina Coeli CYO Basketball when his sons were playing in the 1970's and again when his grandsons played in the 2000's. He was also a former Assistant Coach with FDR High School Varsity Baseball, Germantown JV Basketball (with his grandson, Devin), and Haviland Middle School Football.
Active in his community as well, Bob was Past President of the Riverside Cottage Assoc.,
Clayton, NY, Past Exalted Ruler of the former Hyde Park Elks Club, and past secretary of the Thursday Night Men's Bowling League at the former Hoe Bowl Lanes in Hyde Park.
He loved to play golf, fish, and spend time on the St. Lawrence River, Budweiser with pepper in hand. He also enjoyed watching the NY Yankee's and NFL Football, and competing in fantasy sports leagues with his grandson's and their friends.
Always thinking of others, Bob was the "designated driver" for countless friends and family. He would always say "call me, I will come and get you. I don't care the time."
Survivors include his two sons, Robert 'Bob' Jackowski Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Kingston, and Charles 'Chas' Jackowski and wife, Laura, of
Mascotte, FL.
He was extremely proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by three grandchildren, Victoria Carnevale and husband, Kevin, of
Dracut, Mass., Devin Jackowski and fiancée, Emilia Pirraglia, of Poughkeepsie, and John Jackowski and fiancée, Victoria Davis, of
Mascotte, FL; and two great-grandchildren, Alice Katherine Carnevale and Bradlee Rose Jackowski.
Calling hours will be from 3 to 7 PM, Monday, March 13th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Michal Morris at 10 AM, Tuesday, March 14th at Regina Coeli Church, 2 Harvey Street, Hyde Park.
Burial will follow in the family plot at Union Cemetery of Hyde Park.
