Robert "Bob" Sucato

Robert Sucato, 74, of Staatsburg, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.

Born August 1, 1951, in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Mary Tubiola Sucato.

Robert retired from Dutchess County BOCES.

A devoted husband, father, and friend, he was a charter member of the Staatsburg Fire Department, Station #2, and a past member of the Neighbors Gun Club. He loved hunting and fishing and was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees. He cherished time spent with his wife and family and will be remembered for his huge, kind heart, his love and dedication to family, and for being a proud "Papa."

In his younger years, Robert and his wife, Cindi, fostered many children whom they loved dearly, especially Tabatha Lugo, whom they considered a daughter and her children their grandchildren.

On September 1, 1974, he married the former Cindi Emerick at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie. They shared 51 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Jonathan (Laura), Jessica (James), Jennifer, Jay (Amanda), and Thea (Walter); grandchildren, Chloe, Mason, Malia, Talia, Gabriel, and Cordelia; brothers, Vincent of California and Anthony of Pleasant Valley; sister-in-law, Nancy Myers, of Hyde Park; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, James Sucato.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 PM, Friday, January 30th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park. A funeral service will take place at 6 PM during the visitation.
