HIGHLAND, KS… Longtime farmer and stockman Robert D. Jeffers, of rural Highland, joined his wife and other deceased family members in the early morning hours of September 18, 2025. He was 92 years, 9 months, and 10 days YOUNG!

Bob, as he was known to family and friends, was born near White Cloud, KS, December 8, 1932 one of two children born to Robert Lloyd and Mabel Scheer Jeffers and has lived in the White Cloud/Highland areas all of his life. He attended country school prior to graduating from Highland High School with the class of 1950. He also was a Highland College graduate in 1952.

Bob served with the Special Forces in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He returned home where he farmed and raised livestock….not ever fully retiring as he was always interested in farm happenings.

Robert married Virginia Benitz, March 29, 1962, at Highland. They lived nearly all of their married life on a farm west of Highland where they raised their son Robert.

Family meant everything to Bob. With the help of his sister Ruth, as their mother aged, they were very devoted to her care that allowed her to stay at home. He also enjoyed spending time with his son Robert and his family.

Survivors include his son Robert and Joni Jeffers of Lincoln, NE, three grandchildren: Amanda Jeffers (Ramone Smith), Aaron Jeffers, Ashley Jeffers; 6 great-grandchildren: Morgan Smith, Jacob Jeffers, Isaiah Jeffers, Alivia, Zoey, and Emmi Jeffers.; and the McCauley Families.

Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents Lloyd and Verna Jeffers, George and Effie Scheer, his parents Robert Lloyd Jeffers and Mabel Shorb; a sister Ruth and Stanley McCauley; and his beloved wife Virginia, January 10, 1994.

It was Bob's wish to be cremated with a family graveside inurnment to be held at a later date, next to his wife Virginia, at the Highland Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Highland EMT/Firefighter Fund sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, PO Box 33, Highland 66035, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
